A bold, vintage shag wall hanging, hand hooked in November 1977 and signed on the back with the maker’s initials, M.H. The deep teal-blue field is set off by a stepped sunset gradient of mustard yellow, orange, and red that rises up the center into a striking Y shape. The thick, plush pile gives it real texture and depth, and the colors are the warm, saturated palette of the 70s. It makes an easy focal point over a sofa, a bed, or a desk.
It’s a one-of-a-kind handmade piece with a documented date, which is rare for fiber art of this period.
Very good vintage condition. The pile is full and plush with bright, even color and no bald spots. No stains or odors. Edges are bound and intact. Original wire for hanging on backside.
