This is a clever midcentury piece: a side table, magazine rack and reading lamp in one. A slim black wrought iron frame carries a glass top, with a slotted rack below that holds magazines, records or books. A graceful arched arm rises from the frame and holds a conical shade with contrast whipstitch trim that glows warmly when lit. The head swivels, so you can aim the light over a chair, sofa or bed. Splayed legs with small feet give it a light, sculptural look, and it fits easily beside a sofa or chair, in a reading corner or by a bed.
In the style of Arthur Umanoff, whose wrought iron designs defined the look of the 1950s.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. Minor age-appropriate wear to the frame, visible only on close inspection. New glass top. Professionally rewired
